“So, you think I am going to lose up to 20 pounds in 12 weeks?” I scoff in disbelief.
“Maybe even a little more than that.”
“I will believe it when I see it. I have tried everything there is out there, let me tell you.”
“It works. You just need to trust the process and follow it.”
It was with skepticism that I embarked upon my ProLean Wellness journey, but after only two weeks, I was beginning to see the difference. The pants I kept telling my husband I shrunk in the dryer each week fit nicely again. The food preparation I had been loathing each week was very easy: protein and low glycemic veggies at each meal. Yep. I can do it. I had my binder to follow, my doctor and nutritionist to listen to. How could I go wrong? Well, I didn’t. I took my supplements. I stuck with my plan. Enough was enough. Did I want the change or not? You know the definition of insanity? Me too. Was I willing to make those changes and sacrifice my KitKats, cake donuts, and French Silk pies? The cream for my coffee? You know what? I did and it was worth it. After my 12 weeks flew, I found myself in the office again, feeling euphoric. I lost 22 pounds and 31.3% body fat. Now, to be honest, I started at 146 pounds and at 5”7” and you might think I didn’t have much to lose. But here is the 411: The fat gained in the midsection as you head toward your 50s is not a pretty sight. My before and after iDXA scans were clearly different…in a good way. I was beaming!
People, if you want to make that change and you are saying enough is enough, Prolean Wellness can be your happy place. I am now in the maintenance phase and my good habits from the past 12 weeks are still going strong. You know why? My skin looks great. I can actually feel my abs again. I weigh less than I did in my late twenties and it looks pretty darn good. I have more energy than my high school students. Heck, I have more energy than all of the adults around me each day. Sound too good to be true? I will be completely transparent with you (I am a high school teacher and I tend to tell it like it is, folks). Was it hard? The first week was a huge challenge because, frankly, I was ravenous all day long. Probably even salivating a bit. Not a good look, but the truth. That only served to show me how much I had been overeating over the past ten years. I am a food lover. I eat…a lot. But, as I advance in age, I cannot keep eating like I am a college athlete who is constantly in training. Honestly, if I can get 6,000 steps a day, I consider it a win (that is not enough, if you are wondering). Something had to give. It was the waistline.
Thanks to my tough love nutritionist, she paved the way and with my weekly meetings, I was able to persevere each week and looked forward to my weigh-ins with her. Yes. You can re-read that sentence. I looked forward to it because I was proud of the progress and I knew she would be too. Once I got into a rhythm, nothing was going to stop me. You might look for excuses not to forge ahead with this. You may say family members may not be supportive because they continue to bring in the suspect foods when you ask them not to. My family continued to bring these items in. You know the ones: Doritos, chocolate, donuts, Lucky Charm cereal, bagels…I can go on. I no longer crave these items as I did in the past. That doesn’t mean I won’t indulge a little around the holidays or at my 50th birthday next summer, but I don’t NEED it. And I don’t feel sorry for myself either. You know why? Because I am worth it and so are you. Let’s take care of the bodies we have. We have this fabulous body for the rest of our lives. Thank you, Prolean Wellness Staff. You said I could do it and you were right.
Most emphatically and sincerely,
Danica Gianni
