While we have all heard the phrase “Calories In/Calories Out” when it comes to weight loss, the reality is that it takes more than just counting calories to successfully lose weight and enjoy a healthier lifestyle. In fact, starving yourself really isn’t the answer at all. Rather, here are some tips that you should keep in mind to help you keep losing weight without feeling hungry.
Tip #1: Drink More Water
Water is great at keeping you hydrated and helping you to feel fuller. One great strategy is to drink a full glass of water before each meal and then another one right after. This will also help to fight back those cravings that might otherwise get you in trouble.
Tip #2: Get Enough Protein
People frequently underestimate how much protein their bodies actually need. Remember, you need to consume enough protein or your lean tissue will begin to deteriorate. Less lean tissue results in more fat. So, while you may lose weigh on the scale, you won’t get the look you desire and the weight will come back.
Tip #3: Eat Five Meals Per Day
It may sound counterintuitive, but it is actually better for you to eat five small meals throughout the day. This will give you less time to go between each meal, helping you to feel more satisfied while also keeping your metabolism steady.
Tip #4: Fill Up on Green and Leafy Veggies
When you feel a snack attack coming on, reach for green and leafy vegetables such as cucumbers, celery, broccoli and cauliflower. Not only are they free of carbs and sugars, but they also have tons of fiber, which will help you to feel full.
Tip#5: Switch Your Activities
If there is a certain time of the day when you frequently start to feel hungry or have the urge to snack, look for ways to change your routine to distract yourself from indulging. Get up and take a walk, play a game, enjoy a favorite hobby. Anything to help get your mind off of eating during those danger zone times of the day.
